Best-Ever Beef Burger with Caramelized Coffee Rub

There are burgers, and then there’s this burger. Our Caramelized Coffee Rub gives this summertime BBQ staple tons of earthy flavour, and just a hint of sweetness. Crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside.

What you'll need

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • ½ cup panko, breadcrumbs, or crushed saltine crackers
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp milk
  • 1-½ Tbsp Caramelized Coffee Rub

  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat (350-400 degrees F.) If you are cooking on the stove, skip this step.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients together by hand (do not overmix - stop once the ingredients look evenly distributed to keep the burgers juicy).
  3. Divide the mixture into 6 (for large patties) or 12 (for thin patties).
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and press the meat firmly into patties (keep in mind they will shrink a bit when you cook them).
  5. If you are cooking on the stove, heat a skillet to medium-high with a bit of oil.
  6. For thick patties: Grill or fry the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, for thin patties: Cook on the griddle for 2 minutes per side.
  7. Serve with your favourite toppings, and an ice-cold beer.
